Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association holds the 2nd Standing Committee meeting in 2024, Term VI (2020-2025)

At the conference, Permanent Vice President Tran Anh Tuan, on behalf of VWSA leaders, presented a report on the work results of the first 7 months of 2024 and the operation plan for the last 5 months of 2024 of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA). 

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan said that, implementing the Resolution of the 6th National Congress of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association for the 2020-2025 term and the Charter of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association, the Executive Board (EC) of the Association has held meetings of the Standing Committee (SBO) and the Executive Board. Including the 2nd Conference in 2023 of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association for the 6th term (2020-2025) and issued Resolution No. 18/NQ-CCH; the 2nd Conference in 2024 of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association for the 6th term (2020-2025) and issued Resolution No. 01/NQ-CCH. 

Along with that, the Association continues to promote its advisory and policy review functions in the process of collecting comments on the Draft Law on Water Supply and Drainage. In the first 7 months of 2024, the Association organized a discussion to contribute comments on the Draft (first time) Law on Water Supply and Drainage at the Association's Office in person and online with the participation of the Department of Technical Infrastructure (Ministry of Construction); experts, scientists, and member units. At the same time, participating in seminars to contribute comments on related legal policies (commenting on the Law on Urban and Rural Planning; Law on Management of Urban Development and Underground Space); Participating in contributing comments on the orientation of technical infrastructure (with water supply and drainage infrastructure) for the Master Plan projects of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, etc.

Highly appreciating the international cooperation activities in recent times, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan also said that the Association has continued to have practical and effective cooperation activities with Australia such as: Coordinating with the Australian Water Association (AWA) to organize and chair training sessions on GEDSI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) for leaders and staff of units participating in the program; Organizing online seminars with the Australian Water Association to share experiences in managing member databases and communication with members; Organizing a delegation to attend Ozwater'24 in Melbourne - Australia with the participation of nearly 70 delegates;... 

In addition, international cooperation activities with water industry partners in Southeast Asia have also recorded many new steps. The Association welcomed and worked with Singaporean partners: Singapore National Water Authority (PUB), Singapore Enterprise Development Agency; attended the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2024 and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Singapore Water Association (SWA) and PUB. At the same time, coordinated to receive the Indonesian delegation visiting and working at BIWASE; the Association delegation and a number of member units visited and worked in Indonesia, signed Memorandums of Understanding between VWSA and the Indonesian Water Association (PERPAMSI), VWSA and the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia - South Sumatra Province; attended the Water Forum and Indonesia Water Industry Exhibition 2024.

Based on its growing reputation, the Association has welcomed and worked with many other international partners such as Eurocham; Jeonbuk - Korea Trade Promotion Center (JBC),... In March 2024 alone, the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) welcomed international organizations and enterprises from 8 countries around the world. Thereby opening up prospects for cooperation with specific projects and activities to develop the Vietnamese Water industry.

Concluding the Conference, the Chairman of VWSA emphasized that in the second half of 2024, the Association will actively prepare for the planned work and successfully organize the Vietnam Water Week 2024 event from November 6-8, 2024 in Hanoi with the theme "Developing the Vietnam Water Industry - Security, Safety, Efficiency and Integration".

In particular, within the framework of Vietnam Water Week 2024, the Association will award the following prizes: Excellent graduation project majoring in Water and Environment 2024 to students of universities specializing in Water Supply and Drainage; "Green Stream of Vietnam" Award for collective members with outstanding achievements in production and business activities at the unit; actively participating in the activities of the Association and its branches in 2024; Network of young cadres in the Vietnamese water industry.

Along with that, continue to participate in the work of providing comments and criticism on policies and legal documents related to the Water sector; Training to improve capacity through training programs and seminars; Promote communication work... 

In the spirit of solidarity, coordination and support to successfully complete the Conference Resolution and the Resolution of the National Congress of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association, term VI (2020 - 2025), the delegates approved many important contents.
